It Snowed!!!

Indeed, for the first time this winter, we are 'snowed in'. Technically, we could still get out and go places, but school's are cancelled and we're just enjoying the quiet, peaceful white tranquility.

It has been a busy few weeks - I'm afraid I completely forgot about the fact that I write a blog...so sorry! But my neglect has not been from lack of topics; quite the contrary.

Here's a brief timeline:
Feb. 16-19: I went to St. Louis, MO for the weekend. Yup! It was a really fun trip - my sister and I went with some other people, and we sang and learned about reading chant and toured the amazing Cathedral with the mosaics; it was beautiful!!! (as a total understatement.) But you can go read  my sister's blog for a more detailed description of that experience. The unfortunate event was that I got sick while there, brought it home, and now it has attacked every person in my house. Oh well, Mom's the last one, so we should be good now!!!

Then, Feb. 23-25 (this past weekend) I visited a college I'm super interested in. It was amazing! Friday was a whole scheduled day for prospective students interested in the Fine Arts, so I was with a group of other kids and we sat in on classes, (my personal favorite was the stage combat class, although the singing for the stage class was awesome, as well), had lunch at the cafeteria surrounded by theater people, toured the facilities, and then went and saw their production of the musical 'Guys and Dolls' - which sealed the whole day for me: I LOVED IT!!! The acting, singing, dancing, costuming, lighting, set, just EVERYTHING about the musical was amazing! I want to be a part of that world. (Now I sound like Ariel...;)

After the musical, I spent the night with a student there, and on Saturday morning I auditioned for a music scholarship. Yepers. I was a bit nervous, but I still believe that it went really well. I didn't mess up at all, so I guess that's a good thing too. :)

On Sunday I sang in the choir for Mass - it was the Confirmation Mass, so the Bishop was there, and one of my best friends was receiving the sacrament. It was beautiful! Although sight-reading some of that descant was a little interesting... ;)

Of course, in between all of these events I've still had dance classes four nights a week, I read "The Hunger Games" (wow, that's a whole other topic to discuss...), I played the organ for Ash Wednesday, I started reading "The Silmarillion" by J.R.R. Tolkien, and I've actually been sewing quite a bit...

And chocolate is steadily being consumed.

(Shhh! You didn't hear that from me!)

And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man." ~William Shakespeare, Hamlet
